Vax Onepwr blade 4 Review

Vax Onepwr blade 4 Review | Is it still a good choice?

The Vax ONEPWR Blade 4 is a cordless mid-budget cordless vacuum cleaner that offers powerful cleaning performance in a convenient and lightweight design. It offers many features in a budget-friendly pack. The brush roller on/off option is special among them. Including a brushless motor, 3-stage filtration, motorised cleaning head design, 4.0AH battery, and bright LED headlight, making it a solid cordless option for cleaning away pet hair and debris from carpets. But it struggles a bit while cleaning debris from hard surfaces.

Our Verdict:

The VAX Onepwr blade 4 is available in three different versions, the core version for regular house cleaning jobs and the pet version with Double batteries that includes a motorised pet tool, which is ideal for long-time house cleaning and pet tackling pet hair. Another version is also pet designed for pets, and it includes a single battery and a pet tool.

Note: Definitely, the VAX blade 4 is an unbeatable option at this budget; it effectively cleans small and large debris and pet hair from carpets; on the other hand, it struggles a bit at picking up debris from hardwood floors. It doesn’t have any anti-hair-wrap feature, so you have to clean its brush roller after completing every cleaning task to keep its cleaning performance well. Otherwise, the brush roller will be clogged.

The suction power is average in normal settings. We had to set its suction to medium settings while testing. In this mode, the battery lasts around 25-30 minutes. The battery can hold you up for up to 15 minutes in the boost suction setting.

So, make sure which version is ideal for your house cleaning, the core version with a single battery or the pet version with the dual battery pack.

Vax Onepwr Blade 4 vs Shark | Which cordless vacuum cleans better?

Is the VAX Onepwr blade 4 suitable for all floor types? | A comprehensive review

Keeping your house clean and tidy is a never-ending task. From crumbs on the kitchen floor to pet hair on the carpets, it often feels like we’re in a constant battle against dirt and dust. Fortunately, vacuum cleaners have made cleaning more efficient and convenient. And when it comes to cordless vacuums, the Vax Onepwr blade 4 stands out as a game-changer in home cleaning in a mid-budget category.

We tested the Vax Onepwr blade 4 to evaluate how effectively it can pick up dirt from multiple floors.

Bare Floor:

In the lowest setting with the brush roller OFF: 4/10

In the medium setting with the brush roller OFF: 6/10

Boost mode with the brush roller ON: 7.7/10

The Vax Onepwr blade 4 cordless vacuum is okay for dealing with small and medium size debris on bare floors such as hardwood, laminate, tile, or vinyl.

At first, we tested this VAX vacuum on hard floors by spreading some dry waste with keeping the brush roller off and the lowest suction setting. The vacuum struggled a lot to pick up debris because the suction was not powerful enough to pick up debris in the lowest setting.

In the second step, while we increased the suction to the medium level, the result was quite good than the previous.

In the third step, we hoovered over the hard surface by keeping the suction at maximum and the brush roller on. The vacuum surprisingly did a great job; it sucked up all the debris from its path in a single back-and-forth pass.

Pros:

  • The vacuum doesn’t scatter debris on the hard floor
  • It has a brush roller on/off option that is helpful for cleaning hard surfaces
  • Cleans hardwood surfaces well in maximum suction

Cons:

  • The cleaning head doesn’t create a proper seal on hard surfaces, so that requires extra force to pick up debris.

Carpet Floor: 8.8/10

The VAX Onepwr blade 4 cordless vacuum cleaner offers versatile cleaning performance on various surfaces, including carpets. It features a motorised brush bar with powerful suction that effectively removes dirt, dust, and debris from carpeted floors. The Vax Blade 4 also has a boost mode, which provides extra suction power for more stubborn dirt or high-traffic areas.

Additionally, this vacuum cleaner is compact and lightweight, making it easy to manoeuvre and reach tight spaces on carpets. It typically comes with different attachments, such as a crevice tool and a dusting brush, which can be helpful for cleaning different areas of your carpet.

For pet hair: 8/10

The VAX Onepwr blade 4 cordless Vacuum is known for its powerful suction and versatile cleaning capabilities. While it is not explicitly designed specifically for pet hair, it can effectively handle pet hair removal due to its strong suction and specialised attachments.

The Pet version of Vax blade 4 additionally comes with a motorised pet brush which can be useful for picking up pet hair from various surfaces, such as pet beds, tight spaces, upholstery and carpeted stairs. The primary cleaning head with the motorised brush roller agitates and lifts the hair, making it easier for the vacuum to suck it up. The crevice tool is ideal for reaching into tight corners and crevices where pet hair tends to accumulate.

Furthermore, the Vax Blade 4 features a multi-cyclonic technology that helps to maintain consistent suction power, even when dealing with large amounts of pet hair. Its detachable handheld unit is convenient for tackling upholstery, stairs, or any other areas where pet hair may be present.

Testimonial: What do homeowners say about the Vax ONEPWR Blade 4 after long use?

Bought for caravan

The vacuum cleaners’ cleaning ability is brilliant. I have used it multiple times to clean the carpets in my caravan. And impressive is that I haven’t had to charge it yet. It’s truly efficient and reliable. I highly recommend this vacuum cleaner to those who are looking for a powerful, long-lasting option for their regular house cleaning needs.

The battery lasts me 15 minutes in boost mode

The battery lasts me 15 minutes in boost mode

The total runtime of this vacuum in boost mode is approximately 15 minutes, which might seem short at first. However, the time spent recharging the vacuum is undoubtedly worthwhile because, compared to any other cordless vacuum I have owned, this model truly outperforms them all. To optimize my cleaning routine, I strategically plan my cleaning sessions around the recharging time, which doesn’t take much time. Alternatively, I can frequently vacuum in shorter intervals, such as once daily. Although I’m considering investing in a second battery, I hesitate because the vacuum performs exceptionally well on a single charge. I don’t feel the immediate need for an extra battery.

Battery failure

Battery failure

I have been using this Hoover vacuum cleaner for slightly over a year, and overall, it has performed admirably, with one exception—battery failure. It is disheartening to encounter this issue, especially considering that the batteries are typically expected to have a lifespan of 3 to 4 years. Regrettably, the cost of purchasing a new battery is so expensive, reaching a point where investing in an entirely new vacuum cleaner becomes more financially viable. However, in this case, I have decided to explore alternatives and opt for a different brand or model instead of choosing another Hoover.

Good but top-heavy

Good but top-heavy

This vacuum cleaner is suitable for both hard and carpet floors, providing effective cleaning performance. However, one notable drawback is its top-heavy design, which can be inconvenient. If you attempt to lean the vacuum against something to keep it upright while you move an object or perform a task, it tends to lose balance and unexpectedly crash to the floor, which can be frustrating and potentially cause damage or create a mess.

It’s a very heavy machine for me

Regarding its performance, this machine holds its own among other comparable models, neither surpassing nor falling short. However, there’s a crucial consideration to remember – if you are elderly or have dexterity issues, this may not be the ideal machine for you. The weight distribution poses a challenge as most of the weight is concentrated at the top of the handle, making it significantly heavy. Manoeuvring the vacuum became an arduous task for me, to the point where it felt like my arm was on the verge of exhaustion. It’s unfortunate because the price of this machine is quite appealing, offering excellent value. In comparison, my previous machine, a Dyson, cost nearly two and a half times the price of the Vax, yet it was remarkably lighter. This stark contrast in weight makes it a pity that despite its affordability, the Vax may not be the best choice for individuals with mobility limitations.
